The 11th edition of Malaysia's original Ultra-Trail Marathon was conducted on the weekend of 2nd and 3rd September 2023.

Borneo Ultra Trails would like to thank all participants and everyone contributing to the success of the race. This includes our volunteers and race officials looking after the competitors at aid stations, our communication teams manning remote stations and keeping runners on track, medic teams keeping everyone safe and looked after, our photographers capturing the spirit of the event for memories and not least the local communities along the route who both provide assistance and let us trample through their back yards. We are greatly thankful to everyone – the race could not be conducted without you!

The Most Beautiful Thing (TMBT) has earned the nickname "The Most Brutal Thing" for a reason. Competitors had to endure both hot weather during mid-morning and early afternoon and windy and cool if not cold conditions up in the highlands at Kundasang and Mesilau. Combined with the steep terrain and technical sections, this took a toll on the finishing statistics. We congratulate all finishers - you can be proud. To those who did not complete the race, we hope to see you back next year to "finish the job".

A new trail section for the 50k/100k to avoid the hanging bridges at Bundu Paka (between W1 and W2) eliminated the queuing issues that had been experienced on previous events. Other trail updates also worked well such as the re-routing up at the vegetable patch in Mesilou to avoid the worst of the muddy sections.

We will strive to keep improving and hope to see you all back in 2024 for another great experience at the top of Borneo.

A resurging Daved Simpat took the win in the men's 100k while Rejlen James made it an impressive 3 in a row for 2023 with wins in BUTM 100k, Borneo 100 Miler and now TMBT 100k in the women's category! A small race report will be produced in due time. Full race results can be found at: Results TMBT 2023

Photos are being processed and will be gradually posted on Facebook over the coming weeks and eventually gathered in an album on our FLICKR account for easy viewing and downloads. Quality requires time - please be patient as the processing is in addition to a very busy work schedule for our chief photographer.

Our next scheduled event is the Borneo Ultra Trail Marathon on 2nd and 3rd March 2024 - keep up the training.

In-form Daved Simpat ran an impressive race and took a deserved win in the men's 100 km.
