Registrations for TMBT 2024 are open.

Normal registrations and bib swaps for the 12th edition of the TMBT scheduled for 14th and 15th September 2024 will close on 10th August. The number of participants of each category may be limited for environmental reasons and to reduce congestion. We encourage you to register early to secure your spot.

Covid-19 Precautions

Please note that it is a condition to not be Covid positive on race day to participate in the event. Apart from standard hygienic and contact rules, there ar currently no other specific restrictions or conditions in place. We will follow the general guidance from relevant authorities in respect to Covid-19.

Ensuring the safety of all participants, race staff and volunteers is the common responsibility of all involved. We strongly encourage all participants to take a test prior to the race and we also encourage the use of mask, social distancing and general hygiene in confines spaces and around the food stations in particular.

Limit on Entries

Based on the Covid-19 SOPs currently in place for Sabah, we do not have Covid related limitations on entries. We hope that this will remain for the event, but if there should be new limits enforced, these will be allocated on a first come first served basis.

For safety reasons and to limit damage to trails and trail congestion, we have to restrict the number of participants in the 30k and 50k categories to nominally 500 in each category.

Race slots will be allocated on a first come first served basis. We regret any inconvenience to disappointed competitors, but safety and respect for the environment and local population are our prime priorities.

37k Night Challenge

To compensate for the limit on entries in the 30k and 50k categories, a new 37k Night Challenge was added to the TMBT 2019 race categories. This was well received and has since become an integral part of the race. For further information, please refer to the descriptions under the Race Info page.

Registration Procedures

Registration and payment is via the Racematix registration platform. You will be transferred to the Racematix registration page when you at the bottom of this page agree to the terms & conditions to proceed to registration. If you already have a profile with Racematix, you can log in to your profile to enter the race. If you do not have a profile on Racematix, you will need to first establish your profile with relevant details - it is a simple procedure that takes a few minutes. You can then select the race category and any add-ons (in this case the optional bus transfers and insurance options) before proceeding to payment.

Important Note:  Please use your name as stated in your passport / IC for your registration in Racematix. This is important so we can match your registration with payments, indemnity release form etc. Your name and date of birth entered in Racematix will also be used for submission to the International Trail Running Association (ITRA) to register qualifying points for other races if you complete the 100, 50 or 30 km course within the stipulated cutoff time. If you want your results to be properly captured under ITRA, please ensure your profile data is correct and accurate. Every year we have runners complaining that their results/points are not captured in ITRA / UTMB or other platforms that use our results - and it is almost without fail due to inaccurate information in the Racematix profile. Sensitive personal information such as your passport / IC number will NOT be submitted and will be kept strictly confidential.

Payment Options

Payment options on Racematix include Local bank transfers, Paypal and credit card (via Paypal). You may also use other transfer options from overseas that deposit the full required amount into the Bank Account as stated below. Please make sure that the exact amount in Ringit is transferred - the system will not accept even a few cents off. When tranferring - use the option to specify amount received in the bank account in Ringits.

Please note that there are admin fees associated with Paypal and Credit Card. If you pay with Paypal / Credit Card, your confirmation of race participation will be immediate upon payment. If you pay via bank transfer or other money transfer options that deposits the required fees in the Organizer's account, you will need to return to the Racematix registration page to upload a copy of the payment confirmation (bank slip, etc) once you have paid. This will then be verified and your registration confirmed within a 7 day period.
